Fixtech Fix8 White: High-Modulus Structural Silicone for Demanding Bonding and Sealing

Architectural-Grade, Neutral-Cure Adhesive Sealant for Glazing, Marine, and Industrial Applications

The Fixtech Fix8 White structural silicone is a single-component, high-modulus, neutral-cure sealant engineered for professional bonding and sealing where strength, durability, and long-term weather resistance are critical. Unlike general-purpose silicones, Fix8 delivers primerless adhesion to a wide range of substrates including metal, aluminium, Corian, most plastics, and fibreglass, making it a reliable choice for structural glazing, marine sealing, and transportation assembly.

Formulated with a moisture-cure system, this architectural silicone sealant cures to a permanently elastic rubber with a Shore A hardness of 405, accommodating joint movement of 25%. Its neutral cure chemistry is non-corrosive and free of isocyanates, solvents, and acids, ensuring compatibility with sensitive substrates and eliminating the risk of staining or degradation over time.

Why Professionals Choose Fix8 Over Standard Silicones

Standard acetoxy-cure silicones often release acetic acid during curing, which can corrode metals and damage coatings. Fix8s neutral-cure formulation eliminates this risk, providing a safer bond for coated metals, powder-coated aluminium, and fibreglass composites. Its high tensile strength (>1.0 MPa) and shear strength (>1.0 MPa) ensure structural integrity in load-bearing joints, while the 300% elongation allows it to absorb dynamic stresses without adhesive failure.

For marine and coastal environments, Fix8 White offers proven resistance to salt mist and UV exposure, maintaining adhesion and flexibility after prolonged immersion and weathering. This makes it suitable for boat sealant applications, hatch bedding, and through-hull fittings where constant water contact demands a reliable, waterproof bond.

Key Features

• Primerless adhesion to most substrates (excluding Teflon, PE, and PP) for faster, cleaner installations
• Exceptional UV and weather resistance with up to 20 years of proven outdoor durability
• Permanently elastic with 300% elongation to accommodate thermal and structural movement
• Neutral-cure, non-corrosive formulation safe for sensitive metals and coated surfaces
• High tensile and shear strength (>1.0 MPa) for structural bonding in glazing and framing
• Salt-mist resistant and suitable for continuous marine exposure
• Colour-fast white that resists yellowing and maintains aesthetic appearance
• Wide application temperature range from +4C to 40C for year-round usability

Applications Where Fix8 Excels

Fix8 White is the adhesive of choice for structural glazing in curtain walls, window frame bonding, and glass panel installation. Its high modulus and movement capability ensure long-term seal integrity even in high-rise facades exposed to wind loads and thermal cycling. In the transportation sector, it bonds and seals coachwork, RV panels, and automotive trims, resisting vibration and road shock.

For solar panel mounting, Fix8 provides a flexible, UV-stable bond for attaching flexible solar panels to caravan roofs, boat decks, and metal structures, eliminating the need for mechanical fasteners that can cause leaks. Its compatibility with fibreglass and aluminium makes it ideal for marine solar installations where weight and corrosion resistance are priorities.

In general construction, Fix8 seals expansion joints, perimeter gaps, and weatherproofing details with a durable, elastic seal that outperforms standard silicone sealants in longevity and adhesion. Its primerless adhesion reduces labour time and material costs on large-scale projects.

Technical Performance and Joint Design

Fix8 White skins over in approximately 30 minutes at 23C and 50% relative humidity, with a tack-free time of 3 hours. It cures at a rate of 3mm per 24 hours, allowing for predictable scheduling in production environments. For optimal joint performance, maintain a width-to-depth ratio of 2:1, with a minimum joint width of 5mm and maximum of 30mm. This ensures the sealant can accommodate the rated 25% movement without exceeding its elastic limits.

Note: Fix8 White is not suitable for overpainting and may exhibit slight discolouration under specific chemical exposures. Always conduct compatibility testing on substrates with unknown properties.
