1 AWG High Temp Wire, Type MG, 450C

“A premier thermal solution for extreme environments, engineered with mica-glass composite insulation for maximum reliability in temperatures up to 450C.”

Why Professionals Choose MG High-Temp Wire

The 1 AWG MG (Mica-Glass) wire is engineered for the most extreme thermal environments on earth, where even PTFE-based wires (like TGGT) reach their limits. MG wire is the gold standard for internal wiring in industrial kilns, glass plants, cement manufacturing, and heavy-duty smelting equipment. By using a Mica-Glass composite insulation and a 27 % Nickel-Coated Copper conductor, it offers structural integrity and electrical safety at temperatures up to 450C.

• 450C Thermal Performance: Rated for continuous operation in environments reaching 842F, providing unmatched safety for extreme-heat industrial zones.

• Mica-Glass Insulation: The mica tapes provide superior dielectric strength and thermal resistance compared to standard plastic or silicone insulators.

• Nickel-Coated Copper Conductor: Features high-quality nickel plating to prevent conductor oxidation and embrittlement, ensuring a long service life under constant extreme thermal stress.

• Fiberglass Braid Protection: The outer jacket is treated with a high-temperature saturant, providing rugged resistance against abrasion and flame.

• TECHNICAL NOTE ON AMPACITY: Due to the extreme operating temperatures of MG wire (450C), ampacity is highly dependent on ambient temperature and installation method. Please refer to your local electrical code (NEC) or consult with your electrical engineer to ensure compliance with specific derating requirements.

Common 1 AWG MG Applications

• Industrial Kiln Wiring: Power leads for extreme-heat ceramic and glass kilns.

• Smelting & Foundry: Wiring for equipment operating near molten metal and blast furnace heat.

• Cement Manufacturing: Reliable circuits for heavy-duty rotary kilns and heat-intensive processing.

• Heat-Treating Furnaces: Providing internal power for high-temperature atmosphere furnaces.

• Extreme-Heat Appliances: Used in specialized commercial appliances where heat exceeds the limitations of standard Teflon/Glass wires.

Technical Note:All values are nominal and subject to industry tolerances and manufacturer corrections. Specifications are subject to change without notice. It is the buyers responsibility to verify that all materials meet the specific requirements of the project and comply with local electrical codes.
