Holybro X650 Development Kit | Pixhawk 6C | 650mm Drone Frame

Holybro X650 Development Kit | Pixhawk 6C | 650mm Drone Frame

The Holybro X650 Development Kit is a 650 mm carbon-fiber drone platform for PX4-oriented research, mapping, robotics, payload testing, and companion-computer experiments. This product family is built around the X650 frame and variant-specific electronics options, including Pixhawk 6C development-kit choices with M10 GPS and 433 MHz or 915 MHz telemetry.

For buyers comparing autopilot and power options, OpenELAB also carries the Holybro Pixhawk 6C, Holybro GPS M10N, and Holybro PM02 V3 Power Module 12S as related components. The X650 frame provides a large upper mounting plate, battery plate, GPS/companion-computer mounting positions, and a dual-rod rail system for payload work.

The sections below summarize the frame, electronics options, power system, package variations, and common selection questions for this multi-variant product. Specifications are based on Holybro technical documentation and organized for store comparison, variant selection, and safe purchasing decisions. For the full kit reference, see the Holybro X650 documentation.

Technical Specifications

Board Layout & Label Guide

• X650 Carbon Frame – Main 650 mm airframe with full carbon-fiber plates and foldable carbon-tube arms.
• Motor Mounts – 16-25 mm motor-mount pattern for the X650 arm layout.
• Preinstalled Arm Electronics – Full kit configurations use arms with motors, ESCs, and LEDs preinstalled for plug-in assembly.
• Power Distribution Board – Routes XT60 battery input and XT30 outputs for ESCs and selected peripherals.
• Upper Mounting Plate – Provides mounting area for payloads, accessories, and battery-related layout decisions.
• Platform Board – Includes mounting positions intended for GPS and popular companion computers such as Raspberry Pi 4 or Jetson Nano class boards.
• Dual-Rod Rail System – Supports camera mounts, depth-camera brackets, and selected payload mounting hardware.
• Pixhawk 6C Position – Development-kit variants can be paired with the Pixhawk 6C flight controller for PX4-oriented setup.
• M10 GPS Position – GPS mounting should keep the antenna away from high-current wiring and major sources of electromagnetic interference.
• Telemetry Radio – Choose the 433 MHz or 915 MHz development-kit option according to the local radio plan and legal requirements.
• Landing Gear – 16 mm and 10 mm carbon-fiber tube landing gear with reinforced plastic connectors.

FAQ

Q: Is every variant a complete drone kit?
A: No. This Shopify product has multiple variants. Development-kit variants include the flight-controller/GPS/telemetry bundle, while spare-part variants include only the selected replacement item.

Q: Does the Development Kit include Pixhawk 6C?
A: Yes, the Pixhawk 6C development-kit variants are listed with Pixhawk 6C, M10 GPS, and 433 MHz or 915 MHz telemetry options.

Q: Which telemetry frequency should I choose?
A: Choose 433 MHz or 915 MHz according to your local radio regulations, ground-station hardware, and project requirements.

Q: Is the battery included?
A: No. Holybro specifies a 6S 5000-12000 mAh LiPo battery with XT60 connector as the recommended battery range, but the battery is not included.

Q: What payload should I expect?
A: Holybro lists reference payload values up to 4.3 kg without battery, 3.5 kg with a 5200 mAh 750 g battery, and 3.1 kg with a 10000 mAh 1200 g battery. Real performance depends on battery, tuning, weather, propellers, and payload layout.

Q: Can it carry a depth camera?
A: The frame includes a rail system and platform space for payload work. For perception projects, compare suitable camera hardware such as the Intel RealSense D435 Depth Camera, then verify mounting, vibration, power, and software requirements.

Q: How is this different from the X500 kit?
A: X650 is the larger 650 mm platform for heavier payload and more mounting space. For a smaller Holybro development platform, compare the Holybro X500 Development Kit.

Q: Does it require soldering?
A: The X650 kit design emphasizes plug-in assembly with XT30/XT60 power connectors in full kit configurations, but mechanical assembly, wiring checks, firmware setup, calibration, and test flights are still required.

Q: Is this suitable for beginners?
A: It is best for users who understand multirotor safety, LiPo battery handling, PX4/Pixhawk setup, and local flight regulations. Treat the first build and test flight as an engineering task, not a toy setup.
