Description

The 6-DoF IMU Pro Mini Unit, officially documented as Unit Mini IMU-Pro, is a compact high-integration motion and environment sensing unit for M5Stack controllers. It combines a BMI270 six-axis attitude sensor, BMM150 three-axis geomagnetic sensor, and BMP280 barometric pressure sensor, so the I2C IMU sensor can provide acceleration, angular velocity, magnetic field direction, atmospheric pressure, and temperature-related data from one small module.

Because the 6-DoF IMU Pro Mini Unit communicates through I2C, it is easy to connect through the HY2.0-4P Grove cable and use in navigation, robot posture detection, automation control, aircraft navigation experiments, geolocation support, and weather-related sensing. The onboard toggle switch can change the BMI270 I2C address when a project needs to avoid address conflicts.

For reliable magnetic readings, keep the BMM150 away from magnets and strong magnetic fields. If the Unit Mini IMU-Pro is used with a controller that contains a magnet, remove or isolate the magnet before calibration.

Features

  • Multi-sensor 10DoF design: BMI270, BMM150, and BMP280 work together in one compact I2C IMU sensor.
  • Motion sensing: the BMI270 measures acceleration and angular velocity for attitude, vibration, and motion tracking.
  • Geomagnetic sensing: the BMM150 provides magnetic field direction and intensity for heading and orientation support.
  • Pressure sensing: the BMP280 measures atmospheric pressure and temperature for altitude or weather-related experiments.
  • I2C interface: Grove PORT.A wiring carries 5V, GND, SDA, and SCL for simple M5Stack integration.
  • Address switch: the onboard toggle switch changes the BMI270 I2C address from the default 0x68 when needed.
  • Software support: the Unit Mini IMU-Pro supports Arduino, UIFlow1, and UIFlow2 workflows.

Other Content

The 6-DoF IMU Pro Mini Unit is especially useful when a project needs more than basic acceleration data. The BMI270 handles acceleration and gyro readings, the BMM150 adds magnetic field orientation, and the BMP280 adds pressure data, letting one I2C IMU sensor support richer motion and environment fusion.

When using the Unit Mini IMU-Pro, complete mechanical mounting before calibration. Strong magnets, speaker magnets, magnetic charging bases, and nearby motors can interfere with the BMM150. Keep the sensor away from those sources and recheck readings after the final enclosure is assembled.

FAQ

What sensors are inside the Unit Mini IMU-Pro?

It integrates BMI270, BMM150, and BMP280 sensors for motion, magnetic field, pressure, and temperature-related measurements.

Can the BMI270 address be changed?

Yes. The 6-DoF IMU Pro Mini Unit includes a toggle switch that changes the BMI270 I2C address from the default 0x68.

Why should magnets be avoided?

Magnets can disturb the BMM150 geomagnetic readings, so the I2C IMU sensor should be calibrated away from strong magnetic fields.
