Nikon EH-7P Charging AC Adapter

Nikon EH-7P Charging AC Adapter

The Essential, Convenient In-Camera Charging Solution

For photographers and videographers using modern Nikon Z-series mirrorless cameras or advanced DSLRs like the D780, constantly removing the battery to place it in an external wall charger can be a hassleespecially when the camera is rigged into a complex video cage or mounted securely on a tripod. The Nikon EH-7P Charging AC Adapter is the genuine, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) solution designed to bypass that frustration, allowing you to charge your camera’s battery directly through the camera’s USB-C port.

Whether you are traveling and want to minimize the number of external chargers you pack, or you are working in a studio and need to easily top-up your camera during breaks, the EH-7P delivers safe, reliable power. Because it is built to Nikon’s exacting factory specifications, it guarantees the correct voltage and current to protect your expensive lithium-ion batteries and delicate internal camera circuitry.

Why You’ll Love This Adapter

• Seamless In-Camera Charging: You no longer need to remove the battery from your camera or battery grip. Simply plug the EH-7P into a standard wall outlet and connect the built-in USB-C cable directly to your compatible camera body to begin charging immediately.

• Genuine OEM Reliability: Because this is an authentic Nikon accessory, it drastically minimizes the risk of electrical surges, overheating, or damaging your camera’s USB portrisks that are unfortunately common when using cheap, third-party phone chargers or generic power bricks.

• Travel-Friendly Design: The adapter features a relatively compact footprint with a built-in cable, making it incredibly easy to pack into a camera bag or backpack for weekend trips or destination shoots.

• Broad Compatibility: This adapter acts as the standard charging solution for a massive portion of Nikon’s modern ecosystem. It seamlessly charges compatible batteries inside the Z9, Z8, Z7 II, Z6 II, Z6, Z7, Z5, Zfc, Z30, and the D780.

• Battery Grip Support: Beyond charging the battery inside the camera body, the EH-7P can also be plugged directly into the dedicated USB power delivery ports on professional battery grips (like the MB-N11, MB-N12, and MB-N14) to charge the batteries housed within them.

Technical Specifications

Things to Note

The absolute most critical factor before purchasing the EH-7P is understanding battery compatibility. This adapter will only charge EN-EL15c and EN-EL15b batteries when they are inside the camera. It will NOT charge older EN-EL15a or original EN-EL15 batteries (those older gray/black batteries must be removed and charged in the traditional MH-25a wall charger).

Secondly, you must understand how this specific adapter handles power delivery compared to the newer EH-8P. The EH-7P is designed primarily for charging while the camera is turned off. If you turn the camera on while the EH-7P is plugged in, the charging will pause, and the camera will operate using the battery’s power. If you need a power adapter capable of providing continuous, unlimited wall power to the camera while you are actively shooting or recording video, you must upgrade to the newer Nikon EH-8P.

Finally, please note that the USB-C cable is permanently attached to the charging brick. You cannot detach the cable to use it for data transfer, nor can you easily swap it for a longer cable if the outlet is far away.
