The ECCQ is designed to provide strong column-beam connections in end-of-beam applications in wood construction. The seat of the column cap provides an additional surface area of bearing that extends beyond the side of the column. The extended bearing surface helps distribute the load from the beam and provide support for the connection. The ECCQ uses Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws for fast installation and to attach to a greater net section area of the column than a bolt attachment normally entails.

Key Features

• The SDS screws provide a lower profile than standard through bolts
• Certified welds for confidence in strength and loading
• Uplift loads have been increased for earthquake or wind loading
• Diamond holes for temporary fastening

Installation

• Fasten with 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws, which are provided with the column cap. (Lag screws will not achieve the same load.)
• Use stainless-steel Strong-Drive screws with stainless-steel connectors.
• For rough-cut lumber sizes, provide dimensions. An optional W2 dimension may be specified with any column size given. (Note that the W2 dimension on straps rotated 90 is limited by the W1 dimension.)
