Soil Temperature and Humidity Module – Probe Sensor for Agriculture and Greenhouse Monitoring

The TB-SOIL-TH Soil Temperature and Humidity Module is a probe-style sensor for monitoring soil conditions in plant, greenhouse, irrigation, and agriculture experiments. It is intended to help embedded systems collect both soil moisture/humidity and temperature context for smarter watering decisions.

Combine it with the ELAB Nano V3, Raspberry Pi Pico W, and air-environment sensors such as the DHT22 AM2302 sensor for full plant-zone monitoring. Probe-style sensors are useful where soil depth matters more than surface readings.

Because soil type, salinity, compaction, and cable length can affect measurements, validate readings in the target soil and use trend-based thresholds rather than assuming universal calibration.

Technical Specifications

Board Layout & Label Guide

• Probe Tip – Insert into soil at the measurement depth.
• Cable – Routes signal back to the controller.
• Connector – Connect according to module pinout.
• VCC – Power input per product label.
• GND – Common ground.
• Data/Signal – Sensor output to host.
• Waterproofing Note – Protect cable joints and electronics.
• Calibration Note – Compare against known wet/dry soil states.

Application Scenarios

1. Arduino Serial Probe Read

Read a single-wire or digital probe after adapting the library to the module protocol.

const int dataPin = 2;void setup() { Serial.begin(115200); pinMode(dataPin, INPUT);}void loop() { Serial.println(digitalRead(dataPin)); delay(1000);}

2. Analog Trend Logger

If your module exposes analog moisture, log values for calibration.

const int soilPin = A0;void setup() { Serial.begin(115200);}void loop() { Serial.println(analogRead(soilPin)); delay(5000);}

3. Pump Decision Skeleton

Use calibrated values to make irrigation decisions.

int soil = 0;const int pumpPin = 8;void setup() { pinMode(pumpPin, OUTPUT);}void loop() { soil = analogRead(A0); digitalWrite(pumpPin, soil > 650 ? HIGH : LOW); delay(10000);}
